Colchagua

Located approximately 150 km south of Santiago. The main city of this territory, is its capital San Fernando, also highlights the city of Santa Cruz. Warm and naturally dry, but with abundant water provided by the Tinguiririca River, Colchagua is a narrow agricultural valley that begins at the foot of the Andes and extends westward to the Pacific Ocean.
Wine production
Interspersed, in an area of ??approximately 910,000 ha, you can find numerous microclimates, soil types and rugged slopes, ideal for vine plantations, with an increasing number of wine companies, although not necessarily exaggerated, trained to produce Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah, and also Carménère and Malbec.
The name Valle de Colchagua is a Chilean designation of origin for wines from the geographical area of ??the same name that meet the requirements established by the Decree of Agriculture No. 464 of December 14, 1994, which establishes the wine-growing zone of the country and fixes the norms for their use as appellations of origin.
The Colchagua Valley viticultural zone falls within the sub-region of the Rapel Valley and includes the administrative provinces of Colchagua and Cardenal Caro, in which there are 12 viticultural areas comprising 14 administrative communes, namely:
